How We Write

Honest Information, Before You Decide

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy attracts a lot of big promises online. Our guides take the opposite approach. We explain what HBOT is, what a course actually involves, and what the evidence shows, drawing on sources such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and peer-reviewed research.

You'll notice careful wording throughout: "may support," "is cleared for," "your physician determines." That is deliberate. HBOT is an FDA-cleared treatment for a specific list of conditions, and it is not proven for many others. Where the research is mixed or early, we say so.

If you're new to HBOT, start with how hyperbaric oxygen therapy works and what to expect at your first session. If you have a specific question, the HBOT FAQ answers the most common ones in a few sentences each. Read about how we write and update these guides.

Important

These guides are educational and are not medical advice. A physician assessment is required before beginning HBOT at Generations Wellness, and HBOT complements, never replaces, the treatment prescribed by your doctors.
