One Center, a Wide Region

Why the Drive Matters for HBOT

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is rarely a one-time visit. For the conditions HBOT is cleared for, a physician commonly recommends a course of 20 to 40 sessions, usually one a day, five days a week. Each session runs about 90 to 120 minutes including the time it takes to pressurize and depressurize the chamber. Add your drive, and the trip becomes part of your daily routine for several weeks.

That is why we think the distance deserves an honest look before you start. Our center is in downtown Modesto, which puts it close to the middle of Stanislaus County and within reach of San Joaquin and Merced county towns along CA-99. For some patients the drive is a short hop. For others it takes real planning. This page helps you work out which describes you, and our team is happy to talk it through when you call.

Modesto and its neighbors

If you live in Modesto, Ceres or Salida, the drive downtown is usually short, and a daily course tends to fit around work and family without much trouble. Ceres sits just south of Modesto along CA-99, and Salida sits just to the north.

Towns along CA-99 to the north

Ripon lies on CA-99 between Manteca and Modesto, so Ripon patients can use the Manteca guide as a starting point and expect a somewhat shorter drive. Tracy is farther west, reached by way of I-205 and CA-120 before joining CA-99, so plan on a longer trip than from Manteca.

Towns to the east and west

Riverbank and Oakdale are east of Modesto, reached by local roads and CA-108 rather than CA-99. Patterson is to the southwest, on the other side of the county near I-5. For any of these towns, check a map app at the time of day you would travel, since conditions change through the day.

Planning a Course

Is a 20 to 40 Session Course Realistic From Your City?

A useful rule of thumb is to add your round-trip drive to about two hours for the session itself and check-in. Then ask whether you can repeat that most weekdays for four to eight weeks. Here is how that tends to play out:

  • Under about 25 minutes each way (Modesto, Ceres, Salida, Turlock, Manteca, Ripon). A daily course is usually routine. Many people keep the same appointment time each day.
  • About 25 to 45 minutes each way (Stockton, Merced and similar distances). A daily course is workable with a plan. A consistent slot outside commute peaks, a family driver rotation, or pairing sessions with errands in Modesto can help.
  • Longer than that. Talk to us before you commit. We can discuss scheduling, and we will tell you honestly if a program closer to home may suit you better. Our guide to hospital-based and independent HBOT centers explains the difference.

How We Work With Your Local Doctors

You don't need to change doctors to receive HBOT with us. Care at Generations Wellness is directed by Dr. Rajwinder Singh Bahia, MD, and every course begins with a physician assessment. With your permission, we share that assessment and your progress with the doctors who already look after you, whether they are in Modesto, Turlock, Stockton, Merced or elsewhere. That way HBOT fits alongside the wound care, cancer care or specialist care you already receive. Physicians can read how we work with referring physicians.

  • Hard-shell monoplace chambers. You are treated alone in a single-person chamber, breathing medical-grade oxygen at a physician-prescribed pressure.
  • A physician assessment first. Nobody starts a course until a physician has reviewed their history and whether HBOT is appropriate.
  • Clear self-pay pricing. We currently offer HBOT on a self-pay basis and review pricing with you at your consultation. See what HBOT costs.
