Medical Disclaimer
The information on this website is for general education only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and reading it does not make you our patient. HBOT at Generations Wellness is provided only after a physician assessment. If you think you have a medical emergency, call 911.
If this is an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Do not wait for a reply from us, and do not use this website to decide whether you need emergency care.
Emergencies
If This Is an Emergency
- Suspected carbon monoxide poisoning (headache, dizziness, nausea or confusion, especially if others nearby feel the same): get everyone into fresh air, call 911, and call California Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
- A diving injury, such as joint pain, numbness, weakness or trouble breathing after a dive: call 911, then the Divers Alert Network (DAN) emergency line at +1-919-684-9111.
- Sudden loss of vision in one eye: call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
- Sudden hearing loss: see an ear, nose and throat doctor or urgent care as soon as possible, ideally within days. If it comes with facial drooping, weakness, confusion or trouble speaking, call 911.
- A rapidly spreading skin infection with severe pain or fever: go to the emergency room.
Generations Wellness is an outpatient center. We do not provide emergency hyperbaric treatment. Emergency HBOT is delivered at hospital-based chambers. Learn more about emergency conditions treated at hospital chambers.
Not Medical Advice
Educational Content, Not Medical Advice
Everything on this website, including articles, cost and insurance guides, research summaries and answers to common questions, is general information. It is written for a broad audience, not for your particular health situation. It cannot take the place of an exam or a conversation with a doctor who knows your history.
No doctor-patient relationship
Reading this website, calling us with a general question, or sending us an email does not create a doctor-patient relationship. That relationship begins only when you are seen and assessed as a patient.
Don't delay or change your care
Please don't start, stop, delay or change any treatment because of something you read here. Talk with your own doctors first. If something on this site raises a question about your care, bring it to them.
Before Treatment
A Physician Assessment Comes First
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) at Generations Wellness is provided only after an assessment by a physician, who determines whether HBOT is appropriate as part of your care plan. The physician may decide HBOT is not right for you, and will tell you why. Read about the physician assessment and our standards.
HBOT complements, and never replaces, your medical care
HBOT is used alongside the treatment your doctors prescribe, such as wound care, antibiotics or surgery. It is not a substitute for any of it. If you're wondering how the two fit together, see our answer to will HBOT replace my current treatment?
FDA Language
"FDA-Cleared" Is Not the Same as "FDA-Approved"
The FDA regulates drugs and medical devices differently. Hyperbaric chambers are medical devices. The FDA has cleared them for use in specific conditions, which you can find on the FDA-cleared list. Clearance applies to those uses only.
HBOT has not been proven safe or effective for other conditions. When our site discusses other uses, it summarizes research on uses that are not cleared and says clearly that they are not cleared.
Expectations
Results Vary, and No Outcome Can Be Promised
People respond differently to HBOT. Results depend on the condition, how long it has been present, other health problems, and whether the full plan is followed. Any percentages you see on this site are findings from named studies, with their sources. They describe groups of people in research, not what will happen to you.
HBOT also carries risks. Common side effects include ear and sinus pressure and temporary changes in vision. Serious problems are rare but possible. See HBOT safety and who should not use a chamber.
Cost and insurance information
Prices on this site are published national ranges, not quotes. Coverage descriptions explain how insurance generally works and are not a promise that any plan will pay. Generations Wellness is self-pay today and does not bill insurance. See insurance coverage and HBOT cost.
Testimonials
If a patient's story ever appears on this site, it reflects one person's experience, shared with written permission. It does not predict your results.
